Title:
"Hitch And Flow"
Medium: Acrylic and Oil on Canvas
Size: 60" x 40"
Completed: Feb 25, 2007
Description: Texture and balance have been fundamental to the artist's development and interests. Here Fontaigne utilizes pastes, and crushed garnets in varying granularities, under layers of knife and brush applied pigments to provide nuance and delicacy to this work. The river like ribbon that flows throughout the work creates division and structure. Contrasting his earlier figurative ribbons, this particular line was fluid and unplanned. In responding to the space and texture, the figure of a woman's neck and shoulder appeared on the left, which the artist enhanced using a passionate red. The central portion began to resemble a thumbs up, with an opposing thumbs down above and right. The balance between approval and dissaproval is ever present.

This piece was completed for the private office of the Chief Operating Officer of an international bank. Installation is planned for April 2007.
