| Description: | As the artist employs his wide pallet freely with knives, the ribbons of color developed in his earlier series reappear (in a less rigid, planned, and figurative form). This work, entitled 'Silky' expands on his previous effort 'Garden Slumber' in it's implementation of fine (small) brushwork. The super close-up image (click above to view) displays the dots and fine lines in the lower center which create a sharpness and sense of closeness in that part of the image. As a result, areas devoid of this fine brushwork appear coarse and distant, the contrast between these areas imparts a sense of depth. | |
