Title:
Sun Stud'd Event Previous Next
Medium: Pastel on acrylic on Paper
Size: 20"x27"
Description: This piece portrays Luciano Pavarotti singing a concert on the great lawn in New York City's Central Park. Note the characteristic handkercheif in his left hand. As usual, he is wearing a classic tuxedo with tails. The garment's coloring represents the sun, for when Pavarotti sings, he is the brightest star on the stage. The beams of light in the open field represent three things: First, the theatre lights (this is a concert). Second, the audience's clothing. Last, and most important, they represent the race and creed of the audience. Music, Opera included, appeals to the masses... whether a red-blooded american, a blue-blooded royal, a white-man, a person of color, a green-blooded alien... Opera appeals to everyone. The title makes use of "stud", which given Pavarotti's heritage makes sense... afterall, they say Italians make the best lovers.
