Title:
"The Waiting Game"
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 24" x 36"
Description: This piece marks another new first for the artist. Geoffrey finishes the edges of deep canvases primarily for decorative purposes. In this painting, key elements of the work are placed on or crossing over to the outside edge of the painting. The thin image above shows the left edge. Note the small red rectangle which barely crosses onto the main face of the canvas. A large yellow block makes its way from the main face onto the left edge, and the thick rushing white and blue element flows off the main face transecting the left edge entirely.

This piece captures an ether of time and space where moments wait anxiously to happen. For example: a tear waits upside down until it is pulled by fate into place.

Dramatic contrasts in color and texture identify the Counterpoint series; a background of french ultramarine is soft and smooth, the yellow 'moments' are striated and clean surrounded by shimmering silver, the tumultous fingers of fate are viscous and lathered.
