Children are often fascinated by the winter cycle of heavy snow and glaring sun. Melting snow from rooftops cascades into overflowing gutters, and eventually trickles ground-ward. Yesterday, while peering out our large livingroom window, my childhood icicle intrigue was renewed. The background for this piece was done very unconsciously, true of most members of Series Beurre. The only element certain to be added, were the icicles. After a snowfall, sunny days bring wintry tears. Are they tears of joy?... of sorrow? Does mother nature cry when her colorful foliage is hidden under a blanket of white? |
